Gold plated jewellery wears off slightly over time, but there are easy ways of caring for your favourite pieces. 

Keep wearing your pieces for years to come. Due to the fact that gold plated jewellery has a layer of gold on it, different care is needed compared to sterling silver or real gold. 

• Remove your gold plated jewellery when you go for example bathing and swimming, and wait until you are dry before putting on your jewellery.
• It is best to apply lotions and perfumes before putting on your jewellery as those can tarnish your pieces.
• Use simply warm water and a drop of soap, leave your jewellery in for 5-10 minutes and gently clean and tap dry once rinsed with warm water. Do not use any abrasive solutions or cloths as that will remove the layer of gold.

I do not sleep in my precious jewellery and would not suggest you do either. 

Store gold plated jewellery in the box or pouch it came in. Do not throw it in your jewellery box with everything else as the friction of rubbing against other metals can wear away the layer of gold. Leaving it lying around increases the risk of tarnishing.
